I know Xcode is an option and its free which is great but Ive had some trouble using it mainly random crashes from time to time.

There were some issues I ran into from the grading side since it was for a class but it all worked out in the end. If you work as an independent programmer the Express edition of this IDE is okay for you. Best of both worlds in my opinion.
